FLIR’s Latitude VMS efficiently supports the Peel Ports Great Yarmouth deep-water harbor, in Norfolk, UK, with its current and future security needs.

Peel Ports Great Yarmouth is a modern, multi-purpose port, based in Norfolk, UK. The port integrates a new, deep-water outer harbor, as well as a well-established river port that serves the Oil and Gas fields of the southern North Sea. Port operators decided to have a comprehensive security monitoring solution in place in order to safeguard cargo, infrastructure and people. Using FLIR’s network-based Video Management Solution (VMS), the port is certain to be able to meet the needs of today’s demands, as well as tomorrow’s business growth.

Future-Proof Video Surveillance Over IP

Peel Ports Great Yarmouth turned to Check Your Security Ltd., a Norfolk-based IP security systems integrator, for the integration of a comprehensive video surveillance system. The company opted for FLIR's Latitude VMS, which provides forensic-quality imaging and user-friendly operation consisting of dedicated, web-based and mobile client software.

All camera video streams needed to be fed into a central control room, and further scaling of the camera network within the town of Great Yarmouth was needed. The video surveillance solution used FLIR’s Quasar Quad HD cameras and older analog cameras, coupled with video encoders from FLIR, offering Peel Ports many options to efficiently secure the harbor area.

"The task Check Your Security faced was to provide a fully integrated and comprehensive video surveillance system in a coastal port environment that is both harsh and demanding,” said Richard Musgrove, Harbor Master at Peel Ports Great Yarmouth. “Check Your Security offered a solution that met our challenging operational requirements, resulting in Peel Ports Great Yarmouth managing a robust, reliable and scalable system for today and for the harbor’s future growth."
